General Surgery
General surgery covers many of the most common abdominal conditions. With extensive training and experience, Mr Murali offers safe and effective treatment using modern techniques, often through minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery for faster recovery and less discomfort.
Conditions & Procedures
Hernia Repair
Hernias can develop throughout the abdominal wall due to a weakness in the tissue. Surgery is the only effective treatment but many types exist and patients need to be well informed as part of a patient centred approach.
- Common types: inguinal, umbilical, incisional
- Procedures: Inguinal Hernia repair with mesh, Umbilical Hernia repair, Incisional Hernia repair
Lump Removal
Benign lumps such as lipomas (fatty tissue) or sebaceous cysts (simple skin cysts) can cause problems with discomfort and infection respectively. Removal is safe and effective and can be performed under local or general anaesthesia depending on the size and location.
- Procedures: Simple lump removal under local anaesthetic, Lump removal under general anaesthetic
Gallbladder Surgery
Gallstones are becoming more common and can cause multiple problems from intermittent pain, to severe infection and pancreatitis. Removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) performed by the laparoscopic method is effective and safe but cases can be complex in some instances requiring specialist input.
- Procedures: Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

These are some of the most frequent procedures in general surgery. Most can be performed using minimally invasive (‘keyhole’) techniques, which often mean quicker recovery and less discomfort.
